Chewy White Chocolate Chunk Orange Cookies
These cookies make me think of my mom. Actually, these cookies make me think of both of my parents.
First let me tell you that my parents are almost the exact same age. My mom is only nine months older than my dad and he has teased her about that fact for as long as I can remember. There is a lot of teasing that goes on between them. When you have been married long enough to have 7 kids, a son-in-law, and a grandbaby on the way there are plenty of things to tease about.
My parents have one of those romantic, only-happens-in-the-movies type of love stories about how they met and fell in love. I never get tired of hearing different parts of it.
The reason these cookies remind me of my parents is because this is another object of lifelong teasing between them.
You see, my mom loves fruit and chocolate together. She says it reminds her of when she was little and she used to eat similar things at her grandmother’s house. On the other hand, my dad is a purist and he hates fruit and chocolate. He basically considers it blasphemous to put the two together and calls it an old-lady thing.
I am a lot like my dad and I agree with him on many things, but I have to say that I am with my mom on this one (sorry Dad). I think fruit and chocolate go perfectly together, especially white chocolate and orange.
What is your opinion?
