After a little while we had to make a restroom stop and while we were stopped we heard that there was a big storm expected later that day. It seemed like we would have plenty of time to get back before the storm hit so we went back out for some more tubing.
It was a blast by the way. We were all taking turns trying to catch the waves and get air on the tube.
We noticed some lighting in the distance and started heading back to the dock. When we got back everything transformed around us so fast. We turned around and could see this wall of wind and rain coming towards us across the lake, the boat rental employees told us that had just lost power, and everyone was rushing to get to somewhere safer.
When we got into our car it was like a scene from Twister. I couldn’t believe how many trees were down and lots of them had taken power lines with them. We had to keep turning around to try to find a way out of the small back roads we were on.
We finally made it back to my aunt and uncle’s house and found that a huge tree had fallen in the drive way and broken power cables in two different spots. My sister’s car had debris all over it that had broken a window and caused some dents.
Needless to say, we were without power for a few days and because the well pump runs on electricity we didn’t have running water either.
The power company finally made their way here to restore our power and we all have a greater appreciation for a hot shower.
Sorry for that long explanation. I am posting this quick and easy smoothie recipe today because I have so many things to catch up on. I wasn’t expecting to be playing little house on the prairie for the weekend so I feel a little bit behind.
This smoothie was a good way to celebrate our return to the twenty-first century.
