Hey, hey, hey you guys! gingerbread-house-2016-wilderness-mountain-lodge

I finally finished it, my annual gingerbread house, and this year I may have gotten a little carried away with the size. Haha, I somehow keep scaling them up every year without meaning too. Believe it or not, this was much smaller in my head when I was dreaming it up.

So it’s the official 1 week countdown today and I just wanted to do a quickie little bonus post today so I could share my gingerbread enthusiasm and wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! So far my weekend has been great. BF and I did our last Christmas shopping yesterday and had some great success and then we went to see the new Star Wars movie, which I loved by the way. I can’t wait until tonight because remember I told you he’s taking me to see the Nutcracker. I’m so excited!

Anyway, this year’s house was inspired mostly by the short time my family lived in Northern Idaho a few years ago because it’s around this time of year that we find ourselves missing it the most (all that snow!). I spent a long time debating my ideas but I narrowed them down to about 3. Than I asked my whole gang which one I should do this year and the idea for a mountain log cabin resort/ lodge won the vote hands down, although, Josh is still telling me to do the Millennium Falcon. Wow, major de ja vu just now.

Oh, and also, if you want to try making your own gingerbread men or houses this year (which I compleately recommend if you have the time), HERE is my gingerbread recipe that I’ve been using for a long time now. It’s my favorite because it tastes great but bakes very strong and solid for building with.

Alright, have a great week (watch plenty of Christmas movies and rock out to your favorite holiday tunes for me!) I hope you’re all having a great season with friends and family and I wish you all the happiest holidays ever! gingerbread-house-2016-wilderness-mountain-lodge-2 gingerbread-house-2016-wilderness-mountain-lodge-3 gingerbread-house-2016-wilderness-mountain-lodge-4 gingerbread-house-2016-wilderness-mountain-lodge-5 gingerbread-house-2016-wilderness-mountain-lodge-6 gingerbread-house-2016-wilderness-mountain-lodge-7 gingerbread-house-2016-wilderness-mountain-lodge-8 gingerbread-house-2016-wilderness-mountain-lodge-9 gingerbread-house-2016-wilderness-mountain-lodge-10 gingerbread-house-2016-wilderness-mountain-lodge-11 gingerbread-house-2016-wilderness-mountain-lodge-12 gingerbread-house-2016-wilderness-mountain-lodge-13

wow. two stories and all that pretty foliage!! what supports (besides the columns to hold up the balcony) did you use to hold up the second story? i’m still in awe because my gingerbread house resume consists of houses made from kits with trays that have areas to help hold the gingerbread in place.

Well the support inside was actually just some gingerbread pieces that I baked extra long to insure they’d be hard and strong. Oh, and I know all about those kits, they gave me my start in gingerbread house building, lol. Thanks Heather and I wish you an amazing Christmas!
